Cannot download Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility client

Issue:

Cannot download Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility client.

Cause:

Cisco requires that a user have a license to download the client.

Workaround:

IBM has the appropriate license and makes the client available for download by https from the location:

https://{SSL VPN endpoint}/CACHE/stc/1/binaries/{filename)

The filenames as of July 2017 are:

  • Windows – anyconnect-win-4.2.02075-web-deploy-k9.exe
  • Mac OS X – anyconnect-macosx-i386-4.2.02075-k9.dmg

To download the installer:

  1. In your browser, go to your SSL VPN endpoint as described above.
  2. The login page appears.
  3. Select a Group of EnterpriseCloud unless otherwise directed by your service delivery manager..
  4. Follow the procedure for VPN Credentials in VPN Connect to obtain VPN credentials.
  5. Type your Username.
  6. Type your Password.
  7. Click Login.
  8. When the AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client WebLaunch fails, click AnyConnect VPN to download the client installer.

Note: The VPN is called SSL VPN but no longer uses any SSL protocols, all of which are deprecated. Only Transport Layer Security (TLS) is supported as a secure transport protocol.
