Create SSH Keys

Create SSH Keys

The Enterprise Cloud requires users to use SSH keys for secure console access to their Linux® servers. Users create multiple SSH keys for Linux servers within the Enterprise Cloud on the Keys tab. Once an SSH key has been created, the user is required to select the desired SSH key when creating a virtual machine with a Linux operating system.

  1. Click Create New Key.
  2. The Create New Key dialog appears.

  3. Type a Key Name.
  4. Select Default Key to make this key the default.
  5. Note: While one and only one SSH must be the default, the default key is no longer used.

  6. Click Save.
  7. File Download window appears.

  8. Click Save to store locally the private key file in .PEM format.
  9. Click Open to view the private key.
  10. If you choose to Open the private key file:

      Export window appears.

    1. Copy the contents and save.
    2. Click X to close the window.

Note: You will not be able to download the private key again after it has been created because keys are not retained by IBM for security reasons.
